While visiting villages along the Amazon River, we had the opportunity to conduct soccer drills and scrimmages with the kids. On the heels of the FIFA World Cup, you can imagine the excitement. In Brazil, soccer is everywhere, and the kids were ready to play!
But soccer gave us an opportunity to share something much greater.
Using the colors on a World Cup soccer ball, we shared the story of creation and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Each color helped illustrate a different part of the message, giving the kids a simple and memorable way to hear about God’s love and the hope we have in Jesus.
What a blessing to watch them listen so intently and respond to the Gospel. Many of the children believed the message and prayed with us. ![]()
And when the games and Gospel presentation were finished, we were able to leave official World Cup soccer balls with the communities so the kids could continue enjoying the game they love.
Sometimes a soccer ball is more than a soccer ball. It can open a door, build a relationship, and create an opportunity to share the greatest story ever told.
Thank you #amazonhope and #missionsaroundtheworld for providing this opportunity.
